Hydrabit cover: what is new in Hydrabit 1.2, with the Apple Watch app, iPad support and a new look

Hydrabit 1.2 is the biggest update yet. It adds an Apple Watch app, makes the app work on iPad, gives everything a new look, and moves the basics (logging, your goal, reminders and full history) into the free app for everyone.

In short: log a glass from your wrist, use Hydrabit on a bigger screen, swipe through tips, and share a challenge with friends. Essential is $2.99 a year (7-day free trial) or $9.99 once, for life.

A new Apple Watch app

The Watch app shows today's progress ring and has one big Add button. Tap it to log a glass (250 ml, or 8 oz in US units) without taking out your phone. Your total and goal stay in sync between your watch and iPhone.

  • Free: the progress ring and one-tap logging from your wrist.
  • With Essential: the week chart, the streak page and a watch-face complication, so your progress is on your wrist all day.

If you already use Hydrabit on your iPhone, the watch app is a quicker way to log a glass during the day. Your data stays on your devices.

Redesigned from top to bottom

The whole app has a refreshed look and feel: a new brand theme and native glass controls that match iOS. Larger text sizes now work across the app, and pages open faster, so it is easier to read and quicker to use.

Built for iPad and larger screens

Hydrabit now adapts to larger displays. On iPad it uses a sidebar, and the layout fits both of iPhone Duo's displays and keeps your place when you fold or unfold. The same app, with more room.

Tips are now swipeable cards

Hydration tips, lifehacks and health benefits are grouped by topic and shown as short cards you swipe through, so you can learn something in a few seconds.

Share a challenge with friends

Challenges can now be shared as a branded picture. Starting a guided challenge is part of Essential, and sharing one is a simple way to get a friend to join you.

What's free, and what Essential adds

With this update, everything you need to build the habit is free.

  • Free: unlimited logging, your own daily goal (with a suggestion from your weight, activity and climate), gentle reminders, full history, weekly and monthly reports, trends, a daily recap, optional Apple Health sync, tips, and one-tap logging on the Apple Watch.
  • Essential: Home Screen and Lock Screen widgets, the Live Activity, Siri and Shortcuts quick logging, starting guided challenges, editing or undoing logged drinks, and the Apple Watch week chart and complication.

Essential is $2.99 a year with a 7-day free trial for new subscribers, or $9.99 once for lifetime access. Prices are in US dollars and can vary by country.

Still private by design

Hydrabit has no account and does not collect data about you. Your logs, goal and history stay on your device, and Apple Health sync is optional. You can read the details in the privacy policy.
